Rules of Parliamentary Procedure

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 11 of the IAFF Constitution and By-Laws, local, state and provincial affiliates may use either “Robert’s Rules of Order” or “Atwood’s Rules for Meetings” to govern their deliberations. The International’s Executive Board and the IAFF Convention use “Robert’s Rules of Order, Second Revised Edition,” by Mary A. DeVries.

“Atwood's Rules for Meetings” is available through the IAFF. “Robert’s Rules of Order” can be purchased at most bookstores.

April 2-3, 2012 Union Meeting

April 3, 2012 - Our two-shift Union Meeting was held April 2 & 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Mid-Town Plaza. The following are the recorded minutes for this meeting. David Awbrey was the name drawn for door prize. David was not present and therefore forfeits his winnings. Door prize for next meeting moves to $150.00.

Agenda/Minutes:

PFFO Representatives spoke to the Union and answered questions on the benefits of rejoining the PFFO.

  1. Discuss and possibly take action on the Car Port at Station #6 that was used for the Antique Fire Truck.
    • Referred to Executive Board. No motion made.
  2. Update on Negotiation Team.
    • Next negotiation meeting is April 9. No motion made.
  3. President’s update on Rank Restructure in Negotiations.
    • At first negotiation meeting we discussed the possibility of implementing the rank restructure program. No motion made.
  4. President’s update on current Political Action.
    • The Union met with and chose to endorse Steve Lucas, Tom Kovach and Zac Abbott for Norman City Council. No motion made.
  5. Discuss status of the EMS Training Officer position.
    • The EMS position is being opened up to outside as well as current fire personnel so as to have multiple candidates. The Fire Chief and the Union are in agreement that it will be a pensioned/ uniformed position. No motion made.
  6. Discuss status of the Fire Inspector Position.
    • The Union is in the process of filing a grievance again on the Inspector’s position. No motion made.
  7. Discuss and possibly take action on current grievances.
    • The grievance on merit steps will be ruled on in April. We sill do not have a date on the Supreme Court decision. No motion made.
  8. President’s update on the OSFA Convention to be held in Norman.
    • The Union is in support of the OSFA Convention but has not met yet to see what is needed. No motion made.
  9. President’s update on Insurance.
    • The glitches in the wellness program have been addressed and are being worked out by our Attorney Jim Moore. No motion made.
